Thank you for choosing Demontha

A solid beech bookcase and corner seating in a bright living room

We make wooden furniture from natural materials — built to last, easy to put together, and made in a way we can defend.

Experience, kept simple

Demontha started in 2017, but the workshop behind it has been cutting and joining wood since 1987. Three decades of that work is the reason the range looks the way it does: we already knew which joints hold, which timber moves, and which clever ideas fall apart after two years in a real house.

What we set out to make was modular wooden furniture with the complication taken out — pieces that ship flat, go together by hand, and still look like furniture rather than flat-pack. Everything you see here is designed and built by the same people, which is the only way we know to be sure of what ends up in your room.

Our purpose A different way of looking at furniture

Furniture moved online without really changing. You still mostly choose from photographs of things built to hit a price, shipped from a warehouse, designed to be replaced. We wanted to bring something else to that: well-made modular pieces in real wood, sold directly, built after you order rather than stacked in a depot hoping for a buyer.

The design language follows from the same instinct. Plain lines, no ornament doing work that proportion should be doing, and no material used just because it photographs well. Making fewer decisions on your behalf turns out to be the thing that lets a piece settle into whatever room you put it in.

Quality and nature A sustainable way of making things

Using good materials is not only about how a piece feels to you. Wood takes decades to grow and minutes to waste, so the least we can do is make things worth the tree. We cut to order, keep offcuts in use, and pack in recycled cardboard rather than foam.

The most useful thing we can do for the environment, though, is unglamorous: build furniture that does not need replacing. A table that lasts thirty years is worth more than any amount of green marketing.

Easy assembly An effortless experience

The plainness carries through to the part most people dread. Parts arrive numbered, the diagram is one page, and the numbers on the parts match the numbers on the sheet. There is no hardware bag to lose and nothing to tighten, because the connections are designed to go together by hand.

That also means it comes apart. Move apartments, change rooms, sell it on in ten years — the piece disassembles as cleanly as it went together, which is not something you can say about most furniture at any price.

All of that care has one point: furniture you keep using because you still like it. So we stand behind what we make, and when something does go wrong we would rather hear about it and fix it than have you quietly give up on us. Write to us any time.

Thank you for trusting us with a corner of your home.
